Have you been a Health Center Dental Director or Dental Program Manager for five years or less and feel overwhelmed? Do you wish you could learn more about how a dental program operates?

Are you a long-term Health Center Dental Director, dentist or dental hygienist that wants to share your experiences, and the strategies and methods you have learned with your peers?

NNOHA announces two exciting new programs:

The National Oral Health Learning Institute (NOHLI) - Call for Applications!

Especially developed for new Dental Directors or Dental Program Managers with experience of five years or less in the position, this year-long program can be a foundational and essential building block in your career development as a Health Center Dental Director or Dental Program Manager. Using a combination of in-person and distance learning, the program will provide the core knowledge, competencies and skills that Health Center Dental Directors and Dental Program Managers need to function as effective managers, leaders, and advocates for oral health and their communities. The NOHLI will provide individual mentors who will work with participants over a period of time to ensure successful achievement of participant’s implementation of change at their Health Centers.

The course format includes didactic learning, presentation and discussion of assignments, and networking opportunities. The NOHLI’s pilot class will start September 30, 2012 at the National Primary Oral Health Conference in San Diego, CA. The application deadline is July 18th, 2012. Participation in the program is free of charge.  Click the link below to visit the NOHLI webpage and read the Call for Applications:

*For the purpose of this program, you must be a clinician (dentist or dental hygienist)
in a leadership role to apply.

The National Oral Health Learning Institute is funded under a cooperative agreement with the Health Resources and Services Administration.

The NNOHA Mentorship Program - Call for Mentors!

Our membership is our greatest strength. The NNOHA office receives 5-10 calls a week for advice and assistance relating to dental program operations. While we have developed our six-chapter Operations Manual for Health Center Oral Health Programs, sometimes one-on-one assistance is ideal. The NNOHA Mentorship program seeks volunteer mentors so that we can match experienced Dental Directors (at least five years in your current position), dentists and dental hygienists with newer peers for support and advice as mutually agreeable. Training will be provided to mentors. Applications to become mentors will be accepted on an ongoing basis. To take a brief assessment for participating in this program, click the link below:
