Calling all abstracts for the 2012 NPOHC!

NNOHA's National Primary Oral Health Conference Planning Committee invites proposals for Oral Presentations and/or Poster Presentations for the 2012 Conference.

This year's conference will take place September 30 - October 3, 2012 at the Hilton Torrey Pines Hotel in La Jolla, CA. The theme is "Collaboration: Strengthening the Safety Net."

The purpose of the Call for Abstracts is to collect applications that showcase and promote the replication of innovative and successful oral health programs and management strategies.  The deadline for the Call for Abstracts application is June 15, 2012.

Applicants are welcome to submit on the following clinical / education or operations training / best practices topics.  Similar proposals per category may be asked to present as a group.  Each speaker will have 30 minutes to present (20 minute presentation / 10 minute Q&A).

The NPOHC just announced a new session for the 2012 Conference: “Introduction to Diagnosis and Management of Orofacial Pain and TMD for the General Dentist”

“Introduction to Diagnosis and Management of Orofacial Pain and TMD for the General Dentist” (pre-registration and additional $150 fee required)
Speaker: Omar F. Suarez, DMD, MAGD
Diplomate, American Board of Orafacial Pain

This is an 8 hour course focusing on the Diagnosis and Management of TMD. The Course is organized into several modules, introduction to OFP, Functional anatomy and biomechanics of the TMJ, Pathophysiology, Evaluating patient with OFP, Differential Diagnosis and treatment/management options. Upon completion of this course the participant will gain deeper knowledge as to the Pathophysiology of TMD/OFP conditions, comprehensively evaluate a patient with Orofacial complaints, arrive at a differential diagnosis and recommend a course of action or intervention. A certificate of Completion will be awarded by Lutheran Medical Center, Department of Dental Medicine.
