Diagnostic Codes - Yes or No? Please note we extended the deadline to May 8th

Dear Health Center oral health leaders, 

The National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA), in collaboration with the National Association of Community Health Centers, is conducting a brief assessment on the use of Diagnosis Codes in Health Center dental programs.

While dental services have traditionally been billed using procedure codes (that refer to what procedure the patient received during a visit), medical services have traditionally been billed using diagnostic codes (that refer to the patient’s condition or diagnosis during a visit).

We are asking all Health Centers to complete this brief 5 minute survey by Tuesday, May 8, 2012, even if your dental program does not use Diagnosis Codes. Your invaluable responses will assist us in developing resources for all Health Centers that will be available through NNOHA's website, webinars and presentations at the National Primary Oral Health Conference taking place in the f ...

The NPOHC just announced a new session for the 2012 Conference: “Introduction to Diagnosis and Management of Orofacial Pain and TMD for the General Dentist”

“Introduction to Diagnosis and Management of Orofacial Pain and TMD for the General Dentist” (pre-registration and additional $150 fee required)
Speaker: Omar F. Suarez, DMD, MAGD

This is an 8 hour course focusing on the Diagnosis and Management of TMD. The Course is organized into several modules, introduction to OFP, Functional anatomy and biomechanics of the TMJ, Pathophysiology, Evaluating patient with OFP, Differential Diagnosis and treatment/management options. Upon completion of this course the participant will gain deeper knowledge as to the Pathophysiology of TMD/OFP conditions, comprehensively evaluate a patient with Orofacial complaints, arrive at a differential diagnosis and recommend a course of action or intervention. A certificate of Completion will be awarded by Lutheran Medical Center, Department of Dental Medicine.

A Message Regarding the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program

Dear HRSA Grantees:

HRSA Administrator Mary Wakefield, together with the heads of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), recently co-signed a letter to encourage eligible professionals and hospitals in the safety net community to take advantage of the incentive payments under the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Records (EHR) Incentive Program. 

The letter provides information on:

Eligibility and participation for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Program Resource entities for health information technology support and information such as ONC’s Regional Extension Centers (REC) and HRSA’s Health Center Controlled Networks (HCCN) Participation with State Medicaid Agencies Website links to HRSA, ONC, and CMS technical assistance resources available for safety net communities to participate in the EHR Incentive Program. ...

NNOHA Website's News Section Renewed!

NNOHA staff is excited to announce that we have a new section of the website: "News & Updates."  In this section, we will be able to post and archive updates from NNOHA and news related to oral health access.  With this new feature, users are able to search through the past postings.
