Missouri Ozarks Community Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center with the goal of providing high quality health care services accessible to all. We operate six medical, dental, and behavioral health clinics in south-central Missouri located in Ava, Gainesville, Mansfield, Mountain Grove, Cabool, and Houston. Our team has provided care to patients since 1997 and continues to grow and expand!
Position Summary: The Dental Director is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all dental care and dental personnel at Missouri Ozarks Community Health, Dental Clinics. The Director serves as a member of the administrative staff, collaborates with the CEO and COO in the development of dental care plans and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding services/programs to be offered. The Director ensures proper functioning of day-to-day operations in cooperation with the CEO and COO, as well as maintaining a patient schedule.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
A.Provides direct patient care to ambulatory patients.
B.Exhibits considerable knowledge and experience with general dentistry including, but not limited to, knowledge of pharmaceuticals, amalgam and composite restorations, extractions, fixed prosthodontics, removable prosthodontics, endodontics, minor oral surgery, oral pathology and preventive methods or oral healthcare.
C.Assures appropriate, quality dental care.
D.Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.
E.Oversees delivery of dental care by the clinical staff through direct and general supervision.
F.Facilitates staff development through appropriate coaching, mentoring, and counseling.
G.Serves as a resource for consultation and referral for providers from other disciplines.
H.Leads and monitors quality assessment and improvement programs.
I.Active in promoting preventive dental care and instruction.
J.Provides dental care in Ava. Eventually oversees dental care at any new clinic sites as they become operational.
K.Responsible for the telephone triage systems and its protocols.
L.Responsible for utilization and risk management activities.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.Develops and updates dental care protocols and procedures as needed.
B.Participates in strategic planning for the dental clinic.
C.Participates in the development of a dental care plan to support grant applications.
D.Attends administrative, staff, leadership planning and Board of Directors meetings as required.
E.Collaborates in the development of the dental expense budget and assumes conformance with budgetary guidelines.
F.Mediates professional disagreements and conflicts.
G.Assures compatibility of the organizational mission with the needs and expectations of the dentally underserved community.
H.Assists in development of clinical staffing plans.
I.Commits professional time to community service activities or clinic events on behalf of the center.
J.Provides dental care at the Ava clinic site plus any additional clinic sites and outreach clinics within a 50-mile radius of the Ava clinic site.
K.Serves as a participant in any planned fundraising activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A.The Dental Director must be a graduate from an accredited school of dentistry.
B.Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in rural dental care and management.
C.Current license to practice dentistry in the State of Missouri.
D.Current DEA and Controlled Substance License.
E.Current certification in CPR.
F.Ability to participate in Medicaid, Medicare, and Dental Insurance Organizations.
G.Thorough knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control.
H.Well-developed interpersonal skills.
I.Ability to hear, speak, see, walk, kneel, bend, and lift 25 pounds.
