The Dentist provides dental care services to patients, as well as consultation services on matters appropriate to the practice of Dentistry to other members of the health care staff. Provides consultation and assistance to the dental residents assigned. This position reports to the Department Head of Dental.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Participate in improving the oral health of individuals, families, and groups in the community through diagnosis, treatment, and education.
Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies and procedures.
Operational Excellence
Ensure the delivery of all oral health treatment and care is consistent with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards, including clinical policies and quality initiatives.
Understand and ensure all practices and procedures related to the delivery of oral health services are consistent with contracted protocols and procedures. .
Relationships
Establish a favorable working relationship with all staff members associated with the organization.
Possess a positive working relationship with patients, contractors, vendors, third party payor resources and related entities.
Leadership & Stewardship
Uphold and consistently represent the values, mission, and policies of the organization at all times.
PRIMARY TASKS AND DUTIES
Diagnose and treat any disease, injury, malocclusion, or malposition of a tooth, gum, jaw, or structure associated with the head and neck.
Provides oral health education to patients and families.
All other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES
Establish rapport and identify patients’ chief complaints, general needs and expectations.
Knowledge to provide preventive, therapeutic and educational methods for controlling oral disease as an aid to patients.
Anticipate, diagnose, and provide treatment and follow-up management for dental treatment.
Practice within the scope of one’s competence and make referrals to professional colleagues
Select, obtain, and interpret clinical, radiographic, and other diagnostic information and procedures.
COMPLIANCE
This position requires compliance with Chesapeake Health Care. Requirements of Conduct/Work Rules, Principles of Practice, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Failure to comply, which may include the failure to report any conduct or event that potentially violates legal or compliance requirements of our written standards, will be met by the enforcement of disciplinary action, up to and including possible termination, in accordance with our compliance program policy and procedures.
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of dentistry with a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine
Current State of Maryland license, CDS, and DEA
