Granville Vance Public Health is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of General Dentist (Dentist II) for Carolina Fellows Family Dentistry in Oxford, NC. Carolina Fellows Family Dentistry provides dental services for Granville and Vance Counties. – “Employment may qualify for either a Loan Repayment program or a High Needs Service Bonus

THE PRIMARY PURPOSE: This position will plan and conduct dental health education and clinical treatment programs. Work includes the chairside supervision of Dental Hygienist and Assistants, as well as the promotion of dental health through educational and informational media. Work is guided by established dental health practices and is performed under the administrative supervision of the Health Director. “The person in this leadership position will be expected to work in concert with the dental office manager daily.”

Illustrative Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Institutes and supervises oral hygiene practices,

  • Examines and determines need for dental treatment of patients visiting the practice,

  • Participates in dental treatment by performing all procedures required to establish and      maintain proper dental health for the patient,

  • Serves as a consultant for dental problems to other practice employees,

  • Assists in promoting and maintaining good public relations among community groups and      professional health organizations such as the N.C. Dental Society,

  • Determines that patients’ charts and dental records are correctly maintained through      accurate recording of all dental procedures performed on patient,

  • Embraces a culture of continuous Quality Improvement, by actively participating in QI      trainings, opportunities, and projects by utilizing QI concepts and      techniques.

  • Understand the practice financial position and supports efforts to financial goals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications for this position are licensed to practice dentistry in the State of North Carolina and “at least “one year experience in the general practice of dentistry. Experience working with a wide range of patients is preferred including pediatrics, adults, medically compromised and those with extreme dental needs due to the lack of dental services and/or experiencing a dental emergency. Candidates should also be comfortable working with patients with a diverse range of backgrounds and those with limited English skills. NC Medicaid credentialed preferred, but can assist with getting credentialled with NC Medicaid.

GVDHD/CFFD is a qualified Loan Repayment or High Needs Service Bonus program site.  Approval of either of the program is dependent on the Office of Rural Health’s application process and the employee completing the application.”
