Under the general supervision of the Dental Director, provides care in the following disciplines of a general dental practice: diagnosis, preventive dentistry, pedodontics, removable and fixed prosthodontics, endodontics, fixed prosthodontics and oral surgery. The dentist is responsible for provision and coordination of all dental services. Assist in the provision of in-house dental training for dental and other primary care delivery staff. Assist the manager in the evaluation and supervision of dental clinical and auxiliary staff. The dentist will work closely with appropriate staff and administration to identify, develop, and implement the comprehensive clinical services and preventive services, including the coordination of credentialing and privileging of dental clinical staff.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery or Dental Medicine.

  • A valid license to practice dentistry in Texas.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a high-volume Dental Practice.

  • Certified BLS or BLS equivalent.

  • Bilingual- English/Spanish is preferred.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for the provision and coordination of all dental services.

  2. Performs dental procedures, such as extractions, root canals, and filling cavities.

  3. Orders diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc.

  4. Prescribes medications for dental complications such as pain medications or antibiotics.

  5. Keeps records relating to the oral health of patients and the treatments given to them.

  6. Establish and direct quality and compliance programs to monitor the delivery of dental care by accepted dental practice guidelines, including maintaining continuity of care through Dental Clinic Policies and Procedures Manual.

  7. Participate in patient education opportunities to improve the health care status of our community patients.

  8. All Health Center staff members have emergency and disaster response responsibilities. Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
