SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Dental Hygienist is responsible for direct patient care which
includes providing routine hygiene treatment, performing all related clinical procedures, and
taking radiographs. Must be passionate about patient education, focusing on the control and
prevention of oral disease such as decay and periodontal disease through proper oral hygiene
and regular professional care.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Experience working in clinical setting is preferred.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURE:
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in dental hygiene is required.
• Must have a State of Alaska dental hygiene license.
• State of Alaska Anesthesia license is preferred.
• Must have and maintain a current Basic Life Support certification.
• Meet minimum CE requirements as per licensing board.
• Proficient computer skills and experience with electronic dental records software are required.
• Must have an interest in working with all ages and multicultural populations of diverse socioeconomic background.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE: Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.
