Summary:

Diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums, and related oral structures by utilizing a team-based model and performing the following duties. The ideal candidate would have comfort caring for children, adults, and families.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following:


The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Examines patient to determine nature of condition.

  • Clean teeth and provides preventive dental services to patient such as applications of fluoride and sealants to teeth.

  • Caps injured teeth and fills cavities.

  • Pediatric examination of teeth, gums, and related tissues, using dental instruments, x-rays, or other diagnostic equipment, to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments.

  • Injects painkiller into patient's gum and extracts diseased teeth.

  • Designs and makes dentures to replace missing or diseased teeth.

  • Educates patient in oral and dental hygiene.

  • Develop and maintain appropriate dental records system.

  • Develop and implement a consultation and referral system which assures adequate continuity of care to dental patients.

  • Promote a team concept of healthcare delivery.

  • Provide a variety of professional dental services to the community and clinic patients; administer examinations, diagnose dental problems, prescribe treatment and follow-up.


QUALIFICATIONS


Education & Experience:

Must have obtained either DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school; four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Certificates and Licenses: Must be licensed as a Dentist in the state of Tennessee.


Supervisory Responsibilities: Will provide clinical direction to Hygienist and Dental Assistant.
