Overview of Position:          

Provides dental care for outpatients by diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries and malformations of the teeth and gums. 


Qualifications:                        

D.M.D. or D.D.S. from approved dental school. Current SC Dental License and DEA. Current CPR/BLS Certification.


Knowledge/Skills:                  

Knowledge and understanding of dental surgery and associated procedures, terminology and techniques.  Knowledge of federal, state and institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental outpatient services. Competencies in the following: Communication Proficiency; Customer/Client Focus; Ethical Conduct; Organizational Skills; Problem Solving/Analysis; Thoroughness; Time Management. 


Essential Job Functions: 

To relieve dental pain and infection. 

To provide basic dental services

To maintain quality dental care.  

Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient’s dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided.  

 

To provide dental care:

Extractions

Fillings (composite and amalgam)

Crowns 

Stainless crowns on children

Root canal therapy on traumatic injury cases.

Other duties as assigned


Physical Requirement:           

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone. Vision: Visual acuity adequately to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds unassisted in normal daily activities and up to 30 lbs. for other required work activities. Additionally, requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements (especially if keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
