Shawnee Health, a leading Federally Qualified Health Center in scenic southern Illinois, is seeking a dentist to join our compassionate team. Our locations in Carbondale and Marion offer a vibrant community setting, home to Southern Illinois University, the Shawnee National Forest, and the renowned Southern Illinois Wine Country.
Position Overview:
We are looking for skilled dentists who are passionate about providing high-quality, comprehensive care to all individuals, regardless of their ability to pay. Our team values respect and compassion, and we aim to create a supportive and welcoming environment for our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
•Examine, diagnose, and treat a variety of oral health conditions for both children and adults.
•Perform routine dental procedures including restorative dentistry, endodontics, crown and bridge, removable prosthodontics, and simple/surgical extractions.
•Refer patients for specialty consultations as needed, following approved protocols.
•Educate patients on their oral health status and recommended treatments.
•Participate in peer review, quality improvement projects, and staff meetings.
• Ensure timely completion of records in compliance with board-approved policies.
Work Schedule:
•Four 9-hour workdays per week.
•A designated administrative day for record completion, which can be done outside the clinic if all tasks are completed.
•Clinic hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM; Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
•Dentists are scheduled to ensure full coverage at all times.
Current Team Structure:
•5 Full-time general dentists
•1 Pediatric dentist
•2 EFDA/dentist pairs
•2 dental hygienists per site, with one PHDH certified hygienist at each location
•Each dentist has access to 3 operatories
Requirements:
•DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school
•Illinois state dental license
•Current CPR (BLS) certification
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Spanish language skills are highly desired but not required
•Commitment to providing compassionate care to underserved populations
Benefits:
•$50,000 in student loan repayment for two years of service, with eligibility for renewal
