The Dentist is responsible for performing oral surgery and providing restorative care for patients, including repair and removal of teeth, diagnosing conditions and communicating with patients about how to best care for their oral health, and must demonstrate professionalism to support the delivery of quality customer service, in accordance with ESRHS' Mission Statement and Standards of Personal Conduct Policy. 


Qualifications/Requirements: 

- Graduate of accredited dentistry program and must be licensed to practice dentistry in Virginia.

- Must complete and maintain all recertification requirements for continued dental licensure, and DEA certificate as applicable.

- Required to maintain updated copies of all licensures, DEA certification and CE.


Essential Functions:

1. Provides comprehensive, preventive and restorative dental services for children, and adults including exams, x-rays, sealants, prophylaxis and scaling, oral surgery, amalgam and composite restorations, endodontics, crowns, bridges, partial dentures and complete dentures.

2. Provides emergency dental services to all life cycles including prescriptions for infection and pain, extractions and restorations.

3. Provides program planning for ESRHS to insure proper preventive measures are initiated, monitored and evaluated for example: education programs regarding proper oral hygiene techniques, nutrition, and accident prevention.

4. Oversees dental staff including dental assistant, dental hygienist, and student dentist working with them on a daily basis and assists with performance evaluation annually. Follows and ensures staff compliance with OSHA standards.

5. Completes and reviews patient history, records oral conditions, propose treatment plan and treatment completed on approved patient charts.

6. Represents ESRHS in the community through involvement in community activities that support the mission and philosophy of ESRHS.
