Learning Objectives:
Outline how to incorporate the Association for Dental Safety (ADS) Standard Operating Procedure for Antibiotic Stewardship into your clinic manual.
Describe the critical updates for dental prescribers in the new clinical practice guideline (CPG) and Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) for the treatment of patients with prosthetic joints.
Discuss the time component in the American Heart Association updated guidelines regarding antimicrobial prophylaxis for infective endocarditis (IE) that is often misunderstood.
Review mindset shifts that support patient safety and infection control and prevention in the dental practice related to antibiotic stewardship.
