Safety-net oral health programs face a unique challenge – provide high quality care to the underserved with restricted budget constraints. This yearlong training program, with both distance and in-person learning, provides in-depth trainings in the topics covered by NNOHA’s Operations Manual for Health Center Oral Health Programs for Dental Directors and Dental Program Managers in their positions for five years or less
Funded by the DentaQuest Foundation, this initiative is a partnership with the National Association of Community Health Centers and Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers. The partnership is working with 15 state Primary Care Associations and over 100 Community Health Centers to strengthen local and state oral health programs.
NNOHA is working to measure the impact on oral health services when the medical team receives training in oral health core competencies.
Through the collection and sharing of Promising Practices, NNOHA seeks to strengthen oral health programs and promote communication and collaboration between Health Center providers to reduce disparities and increase oral health.
Policy impacts the oral health safety-net and the oral health of underserved populations. NNOHA works to strengthen the safety net and improve oral health through our advocacy and training of our members to be effective advocates in their communities.
