Learning Collaboratives

Programs

NNOHA is a national leader in small group trainings and learning collaboratives. These peer-learning communities focus on specific topic areas to support increased access to high-quality oral health services. The trainings utilize shared learning, quality improvement methodology, and "all teach, all learn" models to help health centers and safety-net organizations implement new programs and processes. Check back often for new opportunities and application deadlines.

Integration of Behavioral Health and Oral Health (IBOH)

The IBOH training supports health centers to promote mental health well-being in their dental programs. Participating health centers work with NNOHA to implement behavioral health screenings (i.e. PHQ-2, PHQ-9) in the dental clinic. The training uses the NNOHA User’s Guide for Implementation of Interprofessional Oral Health Core Clinical Competencies as a framework for behavioral health integration. This is a virtual small group training.

Integration of Diabetes and Oral Health (IDOH)

This Breakthrough Series Small Group Training works with health centers to implement the NNOHA User’s Guide for Implementation of Interprofessional Oral Health Core Clinical Competencies. Participating teams adopt and apply the oral health core clinical competencies (Risk Assessment, Oral Health Evaluation, Preventive Interventions, Communication and Education, and Interprofessional Collaborative Practice), resulting in integration of oral health and primary care practice for improved outcomes for health center patients.

Sealant Learning Community Small Group Training

The Sealant Learning Community Small Group Training is a virtual training that helps health centers improve their UDS Sealant Measure. Dental sealants are an effective method to prevent dental caries. Even with the emergence of COVID-19, dental sealants can be applied safely and are a necessary service for pediatric patients.

Applications for the Sealant Learning Community Small Group Training are closed. Stay tuned for the next cohort in Fall/Winter 2025.

Dental Assistant Workforce Small Group Training

This virtual small group training includes six virtual webinars (90 minutes each). This training helps health centers develop the framework for an in-house dental assistant training program. Participants will share strategies on how to optimize recruitment and retention strategies of dental assistants and learn planning considerations for dental assistant training programs.

Applications for the Dental Assistant Workforce Small Group Training are closed. Stay tuned for the next cohort in Fall 2025.
