POSITION TITLE: Dentist 

REPORTS TO: Chief Dental Officer

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt / Full-Time


POSITION SUMMARY


The Dentist at Tri-State Community Healthcare delivers comprehensive dental care in a fast-paced, high-volume setting, primarily serving underprivileged and high-need populations. The position requires a high level of clinical competency, strong time management, and the ability to multitask effectively. The Dentist reports to the Chief Dental Officer and works closely with the Dental Manager to meet clinical, operational, and compliance goals.


PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Achieve Results


· Deliver accurate diagnoses and high-quality dental treatment to all assigned patients.


· Meet or exceed clinical, quality, and productivity benchmarks.


· Supervise and guide Dental Assistants along with the support of Reginal dental manager.


· Maintain timely and compliant patient records in the EHR system.


Operational Excellence


· Ensure care delivery complies with all Tri-State protocols, Medi-Cal, AHCCCS, and HRSA standards.


· Follow federal, state, and accreditation regulations.


Relationship Management


· Build positive relationships with patients and families through compassionate care.


· Collaborate with peers, staff, and clinic leadership for integrated operations.


· Participate in internal team building and cross-functional support.


Professionalism & Stewardship


· Uphold Tri-State’s mission and values with integrity and professionalism.


· Comply with all internal policies, HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


1. Perform comprehensive dental procedures including diagnostics, restorative care, prosthodontics, uncomplicated endodontics, and minor oral surgery.


2. Interpret radiographs, lab tests, and formulate treatment plans.


3. Administer anesthetics and prescribe medications when necessary.


4. Refer patients for specialty services as clinically appropriate.


5. Conduct follow-ups and ensure continuity of care.


6. Provide education to patients and families on oral hygiene and preventive care.


7. Participate in staff development, clinic reviews, and operational planning.


8. Train and mentor dental staff and support in-service education.


9. Contribute to community outreach and oral health education efforts.


10. Manage difficult or complex patient cases with professionalism and empathy.


11. Maintain high accuracy in documentation and treatment planning.


12. Utilize EHR (eClinicalWorks) and digital tools for charting and data entry.


13. Monitor and maintain dental equipment and supply usage.


14. Communicate clearly with patients, staff, and leadership.


15. Support quality improvement, compliance initiatives, and clinic performance goals.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS


Education & Licensure


· D.D.S. or D.M.D. from an accredited dental school.


· Active California Dental License (for Adelanto site).


· Active Arizona Dental License (for Needles site).


· DEA registration and current BLS/CPR certification for both states.


Experience & Skills


· Experience in high-volume, underserved, community health settings preferred.


· Familiarity with HRSA, Joint Commission, Medi-Cal, AHCCCS, and FQHC compliance.


· Proficient in multitasking and clinical documentation in a fast-paced environment.


· Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.


· Proficiency in electronic dental records and dental office software (e.g., eCW).


Physical/Environmental Requirements


· Occasional lifting of 40–50 lbs; pushing of 5–20 lbs.


· Standing, sitting, and walking approximately 80% of the time.


· Medium to high manual dexterity.


· Bending and reaching approximately 20% of the time.


· Ability to travel between sites as needed.


· Availability for extended hours as required.

☑ Category I: Job classification includes ALL employees who have occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens (blood or other potentially infectious materials) while performing their job duties.
