SUMMARY: This position will support One Community Health by providing comprehensive primary oral health care and preventive dental care to patients in a community healthcare setting. The dentist will work directly with the Dental Director, Chief Medical Officer, and the dental team to provide high quality patient oriented dental care. This position will be for 1.0 FTE working 4 ten-hour days on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday or 5 eight -hour days on Monday through Friday. Some Saturday clinics are scheduled every 7 weeks at Midtown or 4 weeks at Carmichael.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Perform all functions of a clinical general practice dental provider
• Under guidance of the Dental Director, is responsible for implementing workflows involving Epic, Wisdom and Dexis interoperability and functions
• Collaborate with Dental Director on long range goal planning and new program development.
• Collaborate with the Dental Director when planning and maintaining clinical quality and productivity.
• Coordinate with the dental staff to ensure adequate practice management and facilitate improvements in dental quality and it’s metrics.
• Attend Leadership and Committee meetings when assigned by the Dental Director
• Demonstrate initiative in offering proactive suggestions for improvements in departmental workflow and processes.
• Embrace and support the organization’s commitment to Process Improvement and Quality initiatives
• Assists the dental staff in the development and training of educational programs for staff and patients.
• Participates in Dental Department recruitment/retention activities.
Function as a member of the care team and as such actively collaborates with other clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure care is proactive and coordinated among care providers and care settings. This collaboration includes attendance at daily team huddles, care conferences and training, communication processes including the electronic health record and effective patient communication.

• Performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives.
• Performs patient exams, diagnoses dental disease and conditions, evaluates oral health and plans; and provides treatment using principles of theories, and practices of dentistry (requirement on average is 50% clinical time).
• Recommend changes in all dental clinical services or in general to improve patient flow, dental record, dental billing and appointment practices.
• Works with Dental Director and Dental Supervisor to support compliance of clinic personnel with OSHA standards, HIPAA privacy, and other applicable federal and state laws, regarding the practice of dentistry.
• As directed by the Dental Director, performs other related work or necessary tasks to achieve goals and objectives of the Dental Department and organization.
• Participates in collaborative learning projects and quality improvement initiatives that One Community Health programs may engage in.
• Meets and or exceeds OCH Dental program productivity goals. (1.7 encounters per hour-2024) and 60% dental sealant rate for eligible children.
• Provides leadership and guidance to assigned dental assistant staff to achieve productivity goals.
• Achieves Phase One Treatment Plan completion rate to regulate panel size to increase new patients.

PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION (PHI) REQUIREMENTS
This position has access to Protect Health Information (PHI) of patients treated at One Community Health. One Community Health and its workforce are legally and ethically obligated to protect such information as defined by The HIPAA Privacy Rule and policies of One Community Health. All members of the One Community Health are required to report any potential concerns related to PHI immediately.
TRAVEL RESPONSIBILITIES
• May require current driver’s license and insurance, and, depending on volume, review of Motor Vehicle Record, if candidate drives
BASIC LIFE SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS
• Training required every 2 years for all patient-facing positions
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Graduate from an accredited dental school.
• Must have a current California Dental license.
• Must have a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license.
• Current CPR Certification
• Professional clinical dental 5 years experience in practicing dentistry or completion of DPR or AEGD
• Interest in design and evaluation of efficiency of a dental program in a community health center setting.
• Authoritative knowledge of the practice and techniques of dentistry as a general practitioner in a community health center is highly desirable.
• Licenses required for this position must be kept current, valid, and in good standing with the presiding entity.
• Maintain appropriate clinical privileges required.
• Advanced Education in General Dentistry or General Practice Residency training is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years clinical experience is preferred.
PREFERRED BACKGROUND
• Ability to communicate effectively in language in addition to English
• Ability to learn and adapt to Epic Wisdom Electronic Health Record and utilize modern innovative technology.
• Ability to provide intermediately complex oral surgery and endodontic procedures.
• Ability to provide oral health services to people with complex medical and social needs.
