Smiles for Life
Developed by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Group on Oral Health, the Smiles for Life curriculum is designed to enhance the role of primary care clinicians in the promotion of oral health for all age groups through the development and dissemination of high-quality educational resources.
AAP Bright Futures Oral Health Curriculum
Bright Futures is a national health promotion and prevention initiative, led by the American Academy of Pediatrics and supported, in part, by the US Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB).
The Bright Futures Guidelines provide theory-based and evidence-driven guidance for all preventive care screenings and health supervision visits. Bright Futures content can be incorporated into many public health programs such as home visiting, child care, school-based health clinics and many others. Materials developed especially for families are also available.
Oral Health Care During Pregnancy: A National Consensus Statement
This publication, developed by the National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center (2012), presents a consensus statement that resulted from an expert workgroup meeting convened by the Health Resources and Services Administration in collaboration with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Dental Association held on October 18, 2011, in Washington, DC. The consensus statement provides guidance on oral health care for pregnant women for both prenatal care health professionals and oral health professionals, pharmacological considerations for pregnant women, and guidance for health professionals to share with pregnant women.
Oral Health and Behavioral Health in Patients Experiencing Homelessness
NNOHA and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council developed this publication to bring awareness to the intersection of oral health and behavioral health concerns or cognitive impairment in people experiencing homelessness. The publication will share the impacts of behavioral health illness on oral health and how behavioral health and dental providers can work together to address this intersection in their practices.

Guides for Patients Experiencing Intimate Partner Violence and Exploitation
Individuals who have experienced or are experiencing intimate partner violence, human trafficking, or exploitation may have challenges utilizing dental services. These resources are intended to support dental professionals and patients prepare for dental visits.

The Role of Dental Providers in Vaccine Delivery and Policy Recommendations
This NNOHA publication describes COVID-19 vaccine delivery strategies developed by health centers in states across the country who are utilizing dental providers for vaccine administration. It also highlights policy opportunities to consider for the future that support medical/dental integration and whole-person care in health centers.

Multnomah County Health Department - HPV Dental Toolkit
This toolkit was created through a task force in partnership with the Oregon HPV Alliance, American Cancer Society, and OHSU Knight Cancer Institute. The toolkit provides resources for dental providers on HPV prevention including posters, patient education tools, provider fact sheets, and promotional materials.
On-Demand Course: Oral Health Integration and Pain Relief in Patients on Medication for Opioid Use Disorder
This self-paced online learning module describes the role of dental professionals and the opioid crisis. It also shares best practices for effective and safe pain management. This course can be accessed through NNOHA’s Learning Platform: NNOHA EDU. Users must create an account to access the course.

Integration of Care to Improve Health Outcomes

Integrating oral health, primary care, and behavioral health is a strategy to increase access to care and improve overall health outcomes. This webinar will feature Jordan Valley Community Health Center. They’ll share strategies to integrate medical and dental care. In addition, they’ll share how they’ve integrated behavioral health into other departments. The webinar will discuss the value of medical and dental integration and strategies to engage the whole health care team.

Describe strategies to integrate oral health and primary care practice.
Discuss the value of medical and dental integration.
Learn how one health center successfully integrated oral health, primary care, and behavioral health.
Obstetric Risk Management for Oral Health Professionals
Cost: Free
The session will include an overview of the new Federal Tort Claims Act annual obstetric risk management training requirement for health centers and the importance of oral health care during pregnancy. Practice guidance for oral health professionals on providing oral health care during pregnancy and pharmacological considerations for pregnant people will be described. In addition, the benefits of collaborating with obstetric professionals and delivering integrated care will be shared. This webinar is 90 minutes long.
1.5 CDE Credits available upon 100% successful completion of the quiz.

After participating in this session, attendees should be able to
