Often called “the silent epidemic,” the prevalence of dental disease in America affects millions of people every day. Many lack access to dental care, due to factors such as insurance status, uneven provider distribution, and inadequate awareness of the importance of oral health. Safety-net oral health programs bridge the gap by providing access to care through their innovative programs.
