NNOHA is the largest group of safety-net oral health practitioners in the country, and our members all share a commitment to increasing access to quality oral health care for underserved populations. Many Health Centers provide clinical services, including dental care, in school-based settings. Very little is known about the characteristics of these dental programs. This presentation described findings from a NNOHA national survey of Health Center run school-based dental clinics. Based on survey data and focus group discussions, information was presented on program size, delivery models, services provided and finances. Operational best practices from successful programs were also shared. The implications of these findings for the future were discussed as the next few years will see a significant expansion of health care services provided in schools.
